Could anybody point me in the direction of a free and descent text-editor that highlights HTML, Cascading Stylesheets, JavaScript and PHP? Please note that I'm not looking for an editor that uses all kinds of exotic pinks and purples (like EditPlus (http://www.editplus.com/) does for instance).
Also; since I'm just a student I'm not interested in buying anything, neither am I looking for an educational version of software that's locked/limited 50% of it's functionality..
Just a simple editor...that's all..
 - Ruben
Windows OS?
Gedit and all kinds of free stuff on Linux :(

Dreamweaver is one of the most complete ones. I'm sure you can get an older variant - not the latest - and not for money .. so you can test it and learn.

Other than that SEPY sounds like a really really awefully descent text-editor (especially for AS). I kind of wonder why there is no support for html though..
Too bad they started charging for UltraEdit....that was a nice one..Yeah I had that installed on recommendation of my PHP-teacher from last year, I didn't dislike it at all actually, untill it started crying about purchase and all that, dang do I hate cry-baby software.. :(
Dreamweaver is one of the most complete ones.Yea I have thought about getting dreamweaver and coding in there, however dreamweaver tends to be a big-ass cpu-sucking biatch when running the program, and even with the older versions it still takes a while to boot 'em. I understand that Dreamweaver has much more functionalities then just code-thingies (like the WYSIWYG stuffies), but it's just not worth it for me; I don't wanna have to wait more then 5 seconds to launch an app that I will only use for coding...
I finally chose to just get off my lazy arse and customize EditPlus (http://www.editplus.com/) its syntax-coloring.. hehe.
But still thank you all for your suggestions, perhaps someone else in search of a proper text-editor will be helped with this thread..
Here's some other references:

I use PSPad (http://www.pspad.com/en/). It can highlight just about anything (I use it for a mixed HTML/PHP/JS/CSS/SQL/AS environment). It may need some configuring for AS highlighting, but it does the job. I really like it, and it's free.
