Hey everybody,

About a week ago my housemate showed me this extension for Firefox that allows you to view pages in Internet Explorer mode from within Firefox.
No fancy huge buttons or anything, just a small and simple icon (FF logo when in Firefox mode, IE logo when in Internet Explorer mode) in the bottom right corner of your Firefox browser-window; left clicking it will switch the current window (or tab) it's rendering engine (from IE to FF or from FF to IE), middle click opens the same page in a new tab...

Well I could go on and on but just check out the attached, if you like what you read/see go to the IE Tab website (http://ietab.mozdev.org/).

PS. Excusez moi for the poor quality of the JPG's, still need to reinstall Photoshop..

I Use it often. It works great!! Because certain pages dont work in Firefox but do in IE. (Vice Versa.)

All the ie tab is, is it is a Internet Explorer Engine that runs in Firefox, Therefore making it as if you started up IE and opened the same page.

Firefox Users you can download the Extension from https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=1419&application=firefox

Thanks pkirsch, I find the ietab-extension to be especially usefull when writing crossbrowser html and javascript. It's proved itself to be even more powerfull since MS updated IE its security-policy for local pages.

* In current versions of IE6, javascript in html files outside of the temporary internet files folder will be rendered much stricter security-wise. For instance; most javascript will be disabled and beneeth the IE toolbar a big yellow bar will be displayed in which the user is told that the computer will crash and that coca cola machines all over the world will explode, or something along those lines. If you view the same page (with the same javascript) online, no big yellow caution sign will be displayed. That is if your script is not hungry for world-domination in any way.

I'd just like to add that Macromedia Flash sites don't work very well when running IETab, even if Flash is installed for Internet Explorer but not for Firefox (these sites react to some clicks but then they weirdly stop responding).

if you're having problems with IETab and FF, try opening IE directly and updating the Flash player. I've noticed problems with Flash pages too until I did that. Since then, everything has been fine.
