This is ad is so annoying. It covers the search box and the user's options. See attached:

Yeah, I think it is going to come to that. It is very annoying when I can't do an advanced serach because an ad is covering that option up. I hope Jesse can do something about it in the future, or ad block it will be for me too :o
I havent run into that problem. Though I find some of the ad's to just be funny.

I'm not going to stop you from promoting this Pi. I don’t support it either. That's all I'll say on the topic.
Unfortunately Google's distinction is on a polar basis: image & text ads, or just text ads. (Images obviously includes Flash). So if we turn off images, it’ll fix it, but stop image ads in general. We could block the particular advertiser, but I'm guessing there's more than one Flash ad around.
As CB points out, it's just a Flash thing more than an ad thing but I can totally see how it would be annoying. I personally haven't come across any Flash ads recently; must be a region thing. If this is one of only a few, gimme the URL it links to and I'll block it. If it's one of many, let me know and I'll disable image ads in that slot. So you’ll get text only ads there which won’t cause this problem.
Thanks for raising it mate; keeping the site usable and ads tolerable = v important.

OK I've changed that ad spot so it will only show text ads. That should stop the problem. But since I don't get image ads there anyway, please let me know if the change doesn't take effect....

Some of the image ads were pretty neat. I like the one with the cartoon kid that was advertising his flash skills and tutorials. I actually click on that one a few times. I'm pretty sure that one was Flash too, because I seem to remember him blinking ( although could get animated gif, but i don't think).
Also, it is only that one ad that covers the options (at least for me) None of the others seem to do it. But i think I should probably retract my statement, this is how you put bread in your mouth. So i don't have a problem if you choose to leave the "image" ads in place. Plus no one else is having the problem and it is just that one ad. I can just take one for the team. Also I originally thought that is was just a simple issue of a "Z" in javascript, fixable with a click of a button. I never meant for this thread to take away revenue from AS[org] :o
Thanks for reading Jesse.

No need to feel guilty or retract. It's about usability as much as anything else. We'll run the text only ads for ab it and if the revenue drop is significant, we'll bring back images and block that particular one...

Alright man, just let me reitterate, that I never meant to take money from your pocket. I thought that this was a simply fix of changing the "Z" index.
Cheers! (and thanks :o )
