Simple Scrolling Text Question

Is there a way to use a slider to scroll my text? What I would like is smooth scrolling. I don't really care for the line by line jump that so many tutorials offer.

use a scrollPane or ScrollBar component. Drag it on the stage and specify the textbox you want it to use to scroll in the properties panel.

GhostWire studios (google them) has great smooth scrollers, but you gotta pay!

I recently bought the scrollbox pro component ($9) from: http://www.awssoft.com/products.php?p=scrollboxpro&s=overview
And found it smooth, customisable easy to use. Their online support is really quick and friendly too.

How feasible would it be to create a graphic of the text I need scrolled. Import it into Flash. Then create a mask to create a window of viewable text and just scroll the graphic of the text.

I know that was a very wordy discription, sorry about that. :)
