I'm trying to find out if people work with flash because they LOVE IT! or because its kind of fun, or a job, or they hate it, or whatever..

I started out liking it, but now I despise it, and I despise web design, but right now, it's all I can do to make money.

how about you?

I enjoy it. Its fun learning things about Flash that I didnt know before and having that "wowed" look on my face...makes me feel like a kid again..

I loved it as a hobby at first.
But when I started doing "the web thing" to make a buck, I had to learn a bunch of other programs and languages. I got caught up trying to catch up.
And before I knew it, Flash had grown up and taken a mind of it's own. It had completely forgotten how much I loved it in it's lovely 5 and MX state, and moved on and got a place of it's own. I'd like for us to get back together again, but the child has become an adult and it refuses to compromise. It's like we speak a different language these days.
I miss those days with my friend Flash. *sob*

I liked it better when it was simpler. Then when you made something kind of cool, it was really cool because you were working within these limitations. Now it just feels too complicated.

It's a valid point. I remember when i was looking at a preview video of the new Flash 8 features, i wasn't excited. Flash these days just makes you feel like your on a treadmill, and its hard to keep up.

I still find it fun - but not all of the time. There are fun things about it still, but i find the more and more is thrown at you, the less fun the whole idea of Flash becomes.

I don't think the poll is very good - it's a good idea, but the options are too narrow and just repeat the same thing in a different way.

Regards, snapple

I've come pretty much full circle - first I did the HTML thing, then I did Flash (back when I registered here). I left Flash for a while and went and did some 3D and game design, but I've found myself coming back to Flash recently. Something about it is much more graceful... achievable. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure something complex out in Flash, but when you're working with a 3D program it takes ages to accomplish anything near production quality.

When I find myself getting frustrated with Flash, I have the luxury of being able to drop everything and go do something else. I suppose people who do it for a living might not have this luxury, but I'm a big proponent of doing work while the going is good, and not doing it when the going is tough -- quality suffers, and worst of all, you suffer.
