I am thinking of creating a navigation menu (for a website) that expands vertically to reveal submenu items (as "track as menu item" buttons) when you roll over main menu items, and contracts when you roll off. I have a few reservations about doing this and need you expertise & input.
First, I am concerned that the "contraction" of the menu when you roll off the menu item will be clunky and distracting as the submenu items disappear instantly and all main menu items underneath snap up to their original positions. Would this suck?
Secondly I am concerned that it would be a very complicated nesting of MCs (one MC for each main menu item with an "up" state and an "over" state with submenu items and lower main menu items moved downward) and it will be the main navigation tool for the entire website so it needs to run quickly and smoothly.
