When the user first enters a site.
What is an acceptable filesize to have to preload before the user sees anything other than the preloader?
I appreciate not everyone has broadband like most of you designers no doubt, but what is an acceptable filesize you use as a personal guide?
Cheers..
5-15kb, depends on movie structure...

If it's not there within 3 seconds it's bye-bye user. And at least something should be there the second people arrive.

sorry - I probably didn't explain it properly.
Regardless of the type of preloader - How much of your main site do you actually preload before the user sees anything else other than the preloader itself?
For example - my url I'm linking to (mime11) preloads about 190KB.
On broadband that seems acceptable.
I wondered how much data you guys are prepared to have loaded in before the user sees anything on the screen - other than the preloader. Is 190 too much - would you be prepared to go more if your target audience had broadband etc?
