I am obviously doing something stupid! I want to create a multiline text box of a particular size. However, whenever I resize the box it also resizes the font. How do I resize the box without scaling the font at the same time?

If you're trying to resize as in allow for more text int he box, you can't in Flash 5. Flash MX allows for autoSize (which is very handy). While you could do all sorts of complicated manipulation to achieve the same in Flash 5, I've never even botherred to try. Sorry.

Hey Jesse, I don't think that he/she asks for that.
I think the solution is that u should double click on the text box first/ or pick up your text tool " the T" and click within the text box, u will notice an emplty square appears drag ir to where ever u want

I was trying to resize it when it was an object rather than in 'text box' mode. Thanks very much

Hi!
My qustion has something to do with this thread. If I try to resize a textbox with the mouse, it is very difficult to do it in steps by one pixel. I mean, it is a bit inaccurately.
May the reason be, that I use Flash 5 and Windows XP or do I something wrong? It would be simple, if I could type the dimensions in a Textbox, like I can do with objects. But if I treat the textbox as an objct and do so, the textheight is changed.
Has anybody a tip, how I can design pixel-exactly textboxes with the same textheight?
Thank you!
Denis

There is probably a much better way to deal with it, but what I did was.
1. draw a box on a layer below.
2. Size it using the properties so that I can get it exactly the size I want
3. Zoom in and then resize my text box with the mouse, but using the underlying box as my guide so that I get it to be the precise size I want.
4. Delete the original box.
As I say, hopefully there is a better way!+
