ok-i know this will sound stupid, but can you import a quicktime.mov file into flash 5? i researched a little bit and it looks like you can do it in flash mx, but i was just wondering if i was missing something and there's a trick to doing it in flash 5? thanks a bunch.

Yep u can

> file
> import
> chose the File Type as QT from its window down there
> expand the frames to equal the movie (i.e. if your frame rate is 12 fps and the movie length is 5 mins, the frame would be 5 min *60 sec * 12 )

Problems:
> U won't be able to hear any sound during playing it in flash
> U won't be able to see the work in test movie window

Yes you could import quicktime in flash 5 - but you have a couple of problems if you do so - if you want to keep is like it is you have to save your project in quicktime format (the quicktime format can include flash), but you only have partial support for actionscript then.

Best use of Quicktime movies is to convert them to thw swf format - there are some programs out there to do so - check the software section on this site (if you have after effects 5+ I would like to recommend that) - and then import them in you project.

how does quicktime work in flash mx? do you still have those problems like in flash 5? i was wondering all of this because i'm making a self promotional website --a portfolio--and i want to include some videos and a film that i made that are now in a quicktime format. i know i could link to a separate html page that contains them but i want to keep the movie in the flash page. you can convert an entire lets say 4 minute movie into a swf in after effects and put it in flash 5 and it will run? my flash 5 has been low on memory everytime i try to put even a small swf file into it. i might just get flash mx if you say its better with quicktimes and such.

thanks=
