I am familiar with motion tweens but I find motion along a path maddening and frustrating. It only works exactly right about 25% of the time for me.

I try all sorts of ways, creating the tween first then inserting the motion guide, or creating the guide first, then attaching it to a layer but most times the graphic I'm trying to get to snap to the path doesn't always snap (and YES, I have Snap selected at both ends). I usually end up with the thing moving in a straight path instead of along a curve.

And how do you get a motion path along a full circle?...where do you place the end graphic?...if you leave it right where it is, the thing stays put. Do I need to insert a 3 point motion tween? (I've done that before but all points after the first stray from the path.

This is driving me INSANE!

To get it to do a full circle you need two separate tweens both going the same way over one semi-circle each. That's the only way we got it to work right when we discussed this last.

Here's another way to do it (or a different way to describe it, not sure).

Make your motionGuide a complete circle. In frame1 place your rotating object at 12:30 (on a clock dial) then on frame6 place your object at 6:00 and on frame11 set it at 11:30. The ball should now rotate clockwise around the circle.

Flash will take the shortest distance between 2 points therefore you need to add more keyframes to better describe the path you want Flash to take. This method can be used on shapes other than circles.

Hope it helps,
