Greetings,

Wanted to post this topic because I'm really curious on how many of us are there that haven't yet got that diploma from Adobe.

For detailed info about the subject: http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=220&threadid=1129746&enterthread=y and http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=220&threadid=1159868&enterthread=y

The consequence of what happened is this: developers/designers that have taken Macromedia(now Adobe) exams since December 2005(not sure about the exact month) still haven't got their exam kits. From what I know, this happened not only to Flash but for Dreamweaver exams as well.

Anyone who tried to get a straight answer(through email, forums and even call support) have only gotten stuff like: "the company is suffering from the aquisition" or "you'll be getting it soon"(and several months have passed since then...).

For about a month or more now, the link for the Developer Listing is missing. Again nada...

Now, it is a bit irritating since I actually paid for that. Sure, it's enough reward to know I passed that Flash Developer exam in first try, but still...I hoped I can somehow put that on my CV. All I got is that testing-center score report print.

Not much we (all those in the same scenario) can do about that, but just thought a few rants wouldn't hurt anyone :D

Cheers

Well... I did pay for it more than once and I don't feel good about what's happening either...

But you would not expect much difference whether the Adobe has the list with your name somewhere on their website or not... You only need to put the logo that you have gotten, that says you are certified Flash developer or something similar, into your website and name card and have people see it... You don't have to forward the potential client/employee to the Adobe site for it...

Yeah... Not much we can do about it and we should not expect much from them either...

I took the Flash MX 2004 Certified Designer exam in early January 2006. When, by March, I had not received a thing, I phoned Pearson/VUE (the ones who administer the exam) around three times, and finally got up to supervisor level. That person was convinced to put in a formal complaint to Macromedia/Adobe on my behalf. Still nothing, weeks later. I phoned the local Macromedia/Adobe office, and they just shrugged their shoulders. I also fired off emails to every Macromedia/Adobe email address and online form that was even remotely relevant (bug reports, help, several corporate addresses). Funny enough, it was the Bug Reports people who traced down the issue and actually responded to me (why not? It's a bug in their system), saying that someone had traced my case to the Adobe Test Center in Utah, and they would issue my materials "soon". But another two weeks, and still nothing.

Finally, I threatened them with a lawsuit, and I was serious about it too (got a lawyer brother-in-law who'd help), pointing out that all the web pages and the printed materials connected with exams say you'll get your materials within 4-6 weeks. I also pointed out that these exams are not taken for fun, they are professional credentials which one of my potential clients was demanding to see (this is true), and thus my livelihood was affected. That gives me a strong enough argument in a potential suit.

Lo and behold, I got an e-mail saying I now had an Adobe ACE account. But still no mention of my certification. More angry e-mails.

A week later my ACE account showed my certification and a link to the logos. And about ten days ago (nearly six months after the exam) I got my Adobe certificate in the mail.

My name still does not appear on the Macromedia list of Certified Developers. But I guess that page is no longer being supported.

May I suggest that anyone else having an issue with this perhaps band together and threaten a joint lawsuit. This is a serious issue of a large company breaking contract with its users, and affecting careers as a result.

It finally came. Account was good although they messed up the exam date and the Pearson/VUE guy sent my email address wrong to Adobe.

All ok now except for the web site. Wondering when that's gonna happen.
