so this may sound like a wierd question but i can't seem to figure it out.

i have a .swf that contains a video object. i have the video working and everything...but the problem is that when i test my .swf locally and when i view the webpage online, there is a red "x" across the video object. Yes, there should be a box with an "x" for the video object in the flash authoring, but it doesn't seem like it is going away when the .swf is published. not to mention, my video is very pixelated even though the .flv is medium quality. does anyone know what's going on?

thanks!

Well barring that it is a ActiveX content control issue with the browser, what type of video file are you using?

the video file is an .flv. the video was edited in avid and converted to an .flv via a plug-in provided by Macromedia.

that is exactly what is happening...

i only have Flash MX 2004 (not Flash MX 2004 Pro). after talking to my video guy he told me that he exported the .flv directly from Avid without the macromedia .flv exporter plug-in. but after reading the tech note it looks like even if we did use the plug-in it still wouldn't work because i'm not using 2004 Pro...

i guess i just figured any .flv would be compatible with the Flash Player... do you know of any work-arounds? if i am using Avid to edit the video, how can i get a "Flash compatible" .flv??

thanks for the link!
