What do you plan on doing to "get the basics"? I'm tried of reading bad tutorials that just go over conditional logic and crap like that. Let me (us) know if you find a good tutorial or book (that has an English version). I love to see or read a book that covers the basics while showing anything that is windows related, like how to make a simple GUI, get the OS, get the CPU, connect to the internet, launch external application, etc.

At least 43 is prime :D

Hmmm

unfortunatly i have just one (or 2 ,second seams not so good ) wich are all in german :(

http://www.pronix.de/pronix-610.html
may google translate it for you (or better not if i think on the results it give me if i try to translate something from here what i not understand :p )

like how to make a simple GUI
you woud not do it in C++ but in Visual C++ what you can do till a sertain point whit Drag&Drop (if you have a proper editor)

launch external application
this here will start a command promt
not sure as i am a noob but think you can start whit this what ever you want
or etleast it won't by much more complicated as this

#include <stdio.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
void main ( void )
{
int status;
printf ("\nStart Command Promt\n");
printf ("EXIT to return to the program\n\n");
status = system ("command");
printf ("\n\nprogram going on\n\n");
}

this here is in english and seams to by a good resorce for the begining
but it's Borland specific (Visual C++)
http://www.visualcomponentlibrary.com/bcb/

but first you need to learn the very basics of it
i was the last 3 days on to figure out how to create a sort of an Array and i think i am not even on half way !

bigest suprise what i had to day is that even a simple for loop (not sure i think even an if) has it's own scope
o jeh it hase -->

#include <stdio.h>

int main(void) {
int i = 333;
if(i == 333) {
int i = 111;
printf("%d\n",i); /* 111 */
}
printf("%d\n",i); /* 333 */
return 0;
}

and a load of other things

so even as i think i am not bad at programing i need to start whit "hallo world"
:p
