Well, I think I screw the things :(

I install Flex 2 just to try it and see differences between flash 8... It looks not good for me, I mean to hard to understand because Iīm customized to Flash... I install flash player 9 and the unistall Flex and unisntall Flash Player 9 and then reinstall Flash Player 8... now I canīt open any swf... why???
I see that a swf is recognized now as a shockwave player object!!!

What can I do to restore this to previous state?

Thanks ;)

Hey yker22,

I really sympathize. You seem to have lost your file association for the SWF files. Are you using Windows XP on a PC? If so, this will probably work for you:

Find a SWF file in Windows Explorer. Right click on it. Pick "open with..." and then pick "choose program..." (at the bottom of the dialog box). Find the Flash Player 8 in the next dialog box; perhaps it will already be selected. In the worst case, you'll have to browse your system to manually find the flash player 8's EXE file (but probably not). Before you click OK, be sure to check the box that says "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file." This will re-establish the file association for SWF files to Flash player 8.

Of course, none of this helps if you're not on a Windows XP PC.

C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Flash 8\Players\SAFlashPlayer.exe

this is the location of F8

if you search for SAFlashPlayer.exe you shoud find others (if installed)

see attachment for how to set it up

(if anything fails reinstall flash :p)
