I'm confused about what to develop in now? 2.0 or 3.0?
being that there is no update to flash.. (or is there?)
to export swf's in version 9..
should I just keep developing using 2.0 and version 8?
I've been browsing Adobe's site..
but there isn't any info I can find to kinda clear this up for me..
any tutorails I watch about AS 3.0, they are using Flex builder 2
and it's really complex..... lol.. and no Time line ect..
I dunno I'm lost.. any help would be great :)

Just stick with AS 2.0 for now :). It'll be a little while before you have to worry about it at all.

yeah, stick with AS2. AS3 works now with Flex 2, but wont work with Flash until its next release, Flash 9. That has yet to be released and wont be released for some time.
There is an alpha version of Flash 9 available from labs.adobe.com that is essentially Flash 8 with AS3 support if you want to check it out. You can also download the free Flex 2 SDK which comes with a compiler that can compile AS3 files into SWFs.
But for most real world stuff, stick with AS2 now, and then later down the road you can decide to jump to AS3.

but will I be able to open my current FLA projects & use normal 2.0 as?
like where can I find out what works from 2.0 in 3.0 ?
is there anything in my current work that wouldnt work properly
after I install the version 9?
I'm reading all their notes now..
just wanted to know if there was anything big or not..
You should not deploy this software in a production environment.

No, it will install a new Flash IDE, based on Flash 8, but Flash 8 is still functional.
I say go for AS3.0 as soon as possible, it's a mayor improvement so it needs to be pushed. Just don't forget about AS2, it is still needed a lot.

The Flash 9 alpha has everything Flash 8 has (except help docs) with the added support of AS3. You can use old projects in it if you want, just make sure your publish settings are set to AS2. It also wont prevent you from being able to your original copy of Flash 8.
For more info on Flash 9 and AS3, the following thread may be of help (tips and links to additional resources):

Except for the help (and maybe some other small things that I'm not aware of). But it's still there when you open Flash 8, off course.
