ola, thanks for the feedback man. hummm red, lot of people don't like red. Its funny how colors can cause a certain reaction on people.

but was the scroll bar the only thing that bothered you?

thanks

mocaloca,

Nice - usability, i am (if you read a few other posts) obsessed with clear, good usability...this site acchieves it well, the menu doesn't disapear at any time (in the flash section) and it is very clear what you have to do move onto a site or the next section.

But the navigation is a little un-imaginative, i also (personal preference) think that you should change the font ASAP. The colors could be a improved, they let the site down, you can still have eye-cathing, yet calm colors, that do make it look a little more pro !

Also the buttons, should have a more obvious 'over' state - just to re-asure the user that they have made contact.

Hope this helped,

Snapple :)

mocaloca,

Well, (this may just be personal dislike) - and i do appreciate that the colors fit in with your logo / graphic, but its the red, black and grey, those colors are not really complimentary colors. Black...well that can give the impression that you've just learnt how to spell your first HTML tag, if you see what i mean ? People who slap black everywhere just don't think about the over all color scheme/effect enough.

Its is hard to explain, but those colors, they just dont' fit in with each other (yeah, sometimes a good thing, but not in this case) - it makes the site look too disjointed, like you've slapped frame next to frame without actually thinking about the effect it will have on the user.

The font, well - i'm sorry to come out with the same exlpanation, but i have to. Times New Roman ? Well, it just looks far too homemade, for your capabilities. I look at that site and i think, "well - he knows what he's doing" yet thats the font you see on 'first timer sites' ...totally contradicts it all ! As for suggestions, well i don't know fonts off by heart, but you could visit :

http://www.flashkit.com/fonts/index.shtml

Go for soemthing, clear, origional and in keeping with your site.

Have fun, hope it helped,

Snapple :)

nice site, easily navigated, clean, crisp
Snapple - are we looking at the same site here? Not a Times New Roman to be seen!
I actually appreciate the main graphic font you've chosen, it's clean and professional without running foul of the pitfalls that a lot of peeps seem to stumble into, ie running to the nearest free font outlet and going crazy with funky fonts that are badly made.
The colours and style kind of remind me of the 80s crossed with Constructivism. It works well. In fact I quite like the red scroll bar, it reinforces that mood :)
My slight gripe is the size of some of the text on the home page, like omigod I have to scroll?!! Heaven forbid. -I might break a nail! (oooh, actually I wish I had some :()
loads fast, intelligible, intelligent, fab content, looks swish, what more can I say?

*edit - oh yeah- power dressing comes to mind :)*

mocaloca,

I think that i have been spending too much time in front of my puter, i was refering to the top half of the red scroll bar. I think that i need a rest, either that or a trip to the optition ???

Yeah, i think the other font is great, the one for the main navigation, just i thought i saw another font in there somewhere ? Pinkaboo - yes i do agree with your 80's retro comment, and it has worked on this site, but it (to me) just doesn't make the site flow properly, some parts are slick and modern and others have the red and grey !

Yeah, loading times are nice, and usability is good, nice site - didn't mean to be too picky or see things that were'nt there, sorry.

hello guys, I really appreciate your time. The day is so short, not enough hours ....

Snapple, I am gonna be honest. When I was working on my site, as you probably know and experienced, I worked on many layouts and every morning when I woke up I thought "what was going on my mind?" after many tries I decided for this layout. Not necessarily I am happy with it but it works to display my portfolio. About the colors, there's a book I read a while ago by roger black and he explains the power of red on advertising, since red has been my favorite color since young , it was just natural. Besides I like to cause some kind of feeling on people, even if that feeling is bad towards red.

The font is actually "Trebuchet" on the main nav. For a system font I was tired of verdana and I didn't want to use images.

My main problem is that I don't want to come across as this ... how can I say... I have my pict, the logo is me, the mocaloca thing. I don't want people to get the wrong impression. Most of this is first my personality and second for fun.

I feel so depressed everytime I have a new project or when I go to the great designers site. I think to myself, why am I so damn square? I guess all the coroporate work I did got me like this.

anyway thanks again for your time, keep in touch and I am looking foward to see your stuff

pinkaboo, I checked out your site, nice too. Some images had dead links, take a look at it.

cheers :)
yeah I've got to go through all the links again I think, some of them go to pages (or address images) I have on free server space, one of which shut down this week giving me a measly weeks notice - pah. My site needs an overhaul anyway, my cv is sooo out of date but I keep changing my mind as to how I want it to look and then never get anywhere! DOH! Must sort it all out and soon! Thanks for the kick :D

Sorry for the delay....what i meant was that I only think the red of scrollbar only is a bit too much. Once the site is centered and rectangular, the design part should end on the edges of the html table. The way it is, the scrollbar takes you attention of the design on the middle. It isnt the red i dont like, I like red when it is used well and goes with the style and you did that really well.

got you sfa and you are right. the scrollbar is calling a little too much attention. Maybe if I reverse the colors or just use grays could fix that.
