Hello there
Where are you wanting to show the swf movie? Is it just the text box with the scroll and it is a swf which is embedded onto a html page?
If so.. then the background is being set wrong in the html embed and if you use dreamweaver or the like then the background color specification for the embedded swf is located in the properties palette if you click on it.
also you will need to specify no background in flash before you export/publish.
If you are talking about something else... please reply and give us more info.
these are just my thoughts... I am not an advanced user yet.

Hi mate..
Where are you wanting to show the swf movie? Is it just the text box with the scroll and it is a swf which is embedded onto a html page?
Thats it,I am using flash 8 and dreamweaver 8 for the site,so I do what you just said,I just want to place a scroll text over a page that I have so you can see through to the background of the page instead of the colour behind the text,I know it's not much but for some reason in flash I can not see how you can make the swf transparent,I always have a colour,and I can't see any choice for a default transparent colour,so I guess it is a code but I don't know what or where to place it when using flash8...Thanks so much for your help Webguyjon..

I believe what oldnewbie has said is very true, but I think you are trying to have a small swf element that can be updated with an external text document is that correct mr loopy? so you have an almost all html document and you just want to add a small text field in swf to the page somewhere? Is this for a news ticker or "updated news" block? anyway it doesn't really matter.
First off you will want to make sure that "border and background" are turned off on your text field within flash when you make it. then make your background say... white? Doesn't really matter what color just use something simple.
then export and open dreamweaver.
embed the swf into the html and then go to the code view and click on the swf you embedded to make it show up in the code view and then add this in between the embed tags.
<param NAME="wmode" Value="Transparent">
That should do it dude. The only things to make sure you do is to make sure you dont have any background vectors in the flash file acting as a background or then it obviously wont go transparent for you.
also... transparency doesnt work very well in nutscrape... er I mean netscape hahaha.

I have made a small flash file with which I can dynamically load text into a scrolling textbox. The movie works fine on my local machine, but when I uploaded it to my website the textbox reneders but the text does not load. I uploaded both the .swf and .txt files to the server. All the necessary files are there and where they should be. My host does not allow external linking, and I noticed in the html code there are a few places where external linking is going on. How do I work arround this so that the movie will work on my site?
