Hi, I want to make one of those flash pop up advertisements. you know sometime you go to a website and they are having a special promotion, and as soon as the page loads up theres like this floating flash ad in the centre of the page with a close button so you can make it dissapear.

can someone tell me how this is done?

thanks

They used to be called Chromeless Windows, and only worked in IE. There may have been recent advances, but I'll have to admit I don't keep up to date in the world of pop-up ads. ;)

oh no its not for those annoying popup type selling point purposes.

and i think your misinterpretting me - this isnt really a popup 'window', more like a flash movie overlayed ontop of the website content but still within the website > do you know what i mean

ive seen it used alot in professional sites, like Bigpond here in australia.

i work for a kids giftware company and they are running a competition and want it to 'stand out' on the website

Well, it's "called" a window but it's "really" a DHTML layer.

Here, this one's way better than the one I posted above: http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex8/dhtmlwindow.htm
