Hello.
Using Flash Professional 8.0 - I created a movie to be exported as an animated gif - however when I export the gif - the text fields which export fine as .swf are missing in the .gif format. Is this a known bug or can animated gifs not contain text - which I imagine to be very limiting.
The movie is very simple, four layers - two graphic, two text, no actionscript - all other elements of the movie display in the gif except for the text fields!
There must be a simple answer to this ... thanks for looking.

39 views so far and not one hint of advice / or indication of what the problem could be ... this should be a newbie question because it is basic, maybe I have posted in the wrong forum!
If flash cannot export animated gifs with text fields then someone must have encountered it before ... I googled this and spent some time unsuccessfully looking for an answer before posting here.
I guess some of you are thinking why not just embed flash - well this is the only element of flash that would be in the site and I do not feel like embedding flash just for this and forcing a user to download the flash player if they do not have it / although I could display a static image if they do not have flash I spose.
Come on ASdotORG forum users - for such a great site there must be someone who has come across this ... on another note - the animated gif is 2kb whilst the flash is 5kb so I wanna use the gif - but once the text is inside the gif this will make a size difference - if I ever get to that stage.
Might try importing the text from illustrator - see if that fixes it - converting the text to symbols did not make a difference.

... the solution is to not embed text in animated gifs from FLASH - and not to use the Flash publish to create the gif. Fireworks is probably a better tool / maybe even Photoshop.
If you instead choose File>Export Movie you can export the movie with the text - buit it looks hairy and crap so instead I will use a static image or flash or another tool to make the animation.
Still no posts in response to this ...!
Thnx. Goodbye.

... animated gifs.
If you need to create an animated gif do not use Flash. ImageReady created a photoshop quality gif and the optimised format is smaller than anything Flash could offer - oh and the missing text which was the issue - it looks great - anti aliased as intended within photoshop.
