Testing time..

Ok, after finding a long and extended battle with safari and javascript, I think I finally have screen captures working on the Mac. Now, since no one here, including myself, is a mac expert, and the only machine we have is an Old G3 350mh, we have not testing this completely.

So I ask the Mac community here if you can go to this site and perform a screencapture. (Click on the icon that looks like a camera)
What should happen is;
A java applet should load,
Then safari should resize itself to the upper right corner of the screen,
The java applet will then capture an image of you desktop (and anything that is open on it),
You can then crop out a section or send the whole image to the server,
Then safari should resize (800x600) for now.
Then the image should load into the meeting.

For whatever reasons, firefox will crash when I try to run ANY java applet, so I have no idea if this will work on firefox or not.
Could people please try this out and let me know if it work or if not. And what OS and Browser you were using.

You do have to register for this though, sorry, there is no easy way around that. It's free though. And you do not need a credit card or anything else like that.

Thanks for the help!

did you log into the applicaition? There is a link that says 'start vyew 2.0'. Remember you have to be registered or that function will not work.

Here is a direct link assuming you have log'ed in.

Hi,

Imac G5 2.1ghz, 2.5gb ram running OS X Tiger 10.4.7. Browser: Safari version 2.0.4

First thing to say is that I did not log in but went in as a visitor so i do not know if that will affect what should happen?

I have just tried the screen capture which worked fine and captured a copy of this thread. I cropped the image and then sent it to the server.

However, the image did not appear in my meeting? But I am wondering if this is because I did not register?

Let me know if you would like me to try again and register?

Hope this helps
Steve

Yes, that is how it works. If you are not registered, then there is no account name to send the image to.

Thanks

Ok, so i have just attempted it with registering first. (BTW sorry to through in another variable but I am now using my home mac as sopposed to my work mac which is as follows: Imac G4 1Ghz 512mb ram Running Tiger 10.4.5 and Safari 2.0.3).

So i went to register, filled out all my information and clicked the 'agree with terms and continue' button... and nothing happened. It just stayed on this screen with the button in a down state.

Hope this is usefull?

??? That is odd. I have never head of that before. Did you try a refreash and see if you got reg'ed? Did you get assigned a meeting number? I think you can send private emails on this board. Let me know what email address you used and I will check to see what happened.
Thats the thing on macs, I never know if its a javascript error or what. Actually, doesnt safari 2.0+ have a javascript output window now?

I just tried logging in and it looks like it had registered me, but just not let me go any further?

Anyway, just set up a new meeting and tried to get a screen shot which worked ok, then cropped the image and clicked the send button and within a few seconds the screen shot had appeared in my meeting window.

So all appears to be working ok apart the the glitch with the log in?

I have attached a screen cap of the screen shot loaded in to my meeting window.

i hope this helps?

Good to hear. One more thing. What version of OS are you using and what version of safari?

Thanks for the help
