nested slideshow doesn't play

I have a nested movieclip that I load, a swf that is a slideshow. The slideshow.swf has its own control to advance, autoplay. I finally got the slideshow to load (a big hurdle for me), using a button on the parent movieclip, and you can view the first slide when using Test Movie, but when the button on the controller (which is from the Flash slideshow template) is pressed the slides don't advance. I'm at a loss as to where to find the solution.

Additionally, when I use F12 to view the main movieclip in a browser the slideshow doesn't show at all.

I'd really appreciate some direction! I need to get this functioning by this weekend, if possible.

Well, somehow I stumbled upon the solution for the first problem - I found the ._lockroot = true thing, and it worked! At least when I do Test Movie. But now I've the other problem that when I actually view it in a browser or Dreamweaver the nested slideshow doesn't show at all. Why would I be able to see it work correctly in Test Movie but not in a browser?

I'm almost there - if I can solve this I think I can at least get a simple, functional site up...
