Hello - I'm very curious about how to best replace the standard video players that are included with Flash 8 Pro with a custom player. I'm able to alter the controls to whatever I'd like; however, the actual "videoplaceHolder" is the element that I'd like to be able to customize. Insert a video on a flat panel plasma tv for instance, or on an image of a laptop screen, etc.
Any suggestions out there on how best to handle this? Thanks for any/all insights (from a 1st time poster!)

Does anyone have some suggestions regarding building/designing one's own custom flv player skin in an illustrative style, for example? I could truly use the help. Thanks!!

You could start by looking at the pre-scripted componants (go to window/componants) A lot of the work is already done for you. Then you create a skin in photoshop or something and attach your componants to it. However you are in for a lot of work especialy if you want the user to be able to scale the skin and what not. A simple flat screen or something shouldn't be too dificult. Photoshop animation would work for a cool glow affect on your tv. If you have cs2 you should check this link out. It kicks much ass for animating photoshop graphics.

Kool-Aid - thanks very much for the response! Probably showing my amateur-ness in Flash, but what's the best way to "attach" the skin I create in PS, to a pre-scripted component. I don't think I'll need the user to be able to scale the player, so I should be OK there. I had previously "saved as" and altered a .fla from the skins directory to try and create a new player, seemed easy enough, but when I went to test, no video player window appeared, just the new customized controls.
Thanks again!

Hi everyone
I am having some trouble with Flash FLV players
I need to make some modifications to the default players...I have read many docs about this and I finally managed to change colours and style of the controls....however...I can't understand why placing new elements is so difficult...since they are not displayed where I "left" them in the player skin...
I want to add a button to resize and a couple of text fields to show elapsed time / total time...I can see the buttons placed correctly when I test the movie for the skin...but when I actually use it with some video.flv...the elements seem to be out of place...
I guess this has something to do with the allLayout_mc movie clip featured in the skin...but I don't know how to place the elements there
anyone knows how to do this???
thanks!
