Easy Question -- Adding Points to Line Segments

I've got a rectangle in flash 8. It's got 4 corner points with 4 line segments.

How the heck to I add another point in the middle of one of the line segments so that I can begin manipulating the shape a bit?? I've tried using the subselection tool and the pen tool, but I'm not having any luck?

What am I missing??

ok this is gonna seem screwy and there might be another way to do this, but this is how i did it, use your section tool select the exact area on the outline where you want your point. Hit delete (creating a small gap between the lines) now selct the outline with your sub-selection tool, click one of the two new points click it over until they loin. You now have 1 new point.
