View Full Version : Replacing Missing Fonts...

Okay, I have a client that has a fla he needs updated. The original author is long gone.

There is a font in the fla I do not have listed as "(Copperplate-ThirtyOneAB)" I've purchased the font in question, however, it's listing in my font list as "copperplate31ab" and this isn't being used automatically (it is, however, the same font..).

So, I've tried using the font dropdown in the "Find and Replace" menu, however, it stated it cannot find any instances of "(Copperplate-ThirtyOneAB)" to replace with my "copperplate31ab" even.. in fact, it won't even find "Arial" with a text-box I create with Arial on the stage.

How can I go about getting all these fonts workign correctly, either through replacing them with the correct font, or having my system correctly name my "copperplate31ab", "(Copperplate-ThirtyOneAB)".

Any help appreciated.

Thanks!

Flash 8, winXP.

can you actually have a font in the library!? ive never heard of that before!

I'm having the same problem. I have to edit an OOOOOLD FLA that some guy made, very sloppily I might add. Instead of having one dynamic text field in the middle of this map thing with blurbs that show up when you roll over buttons. the blur is inside each button and you roll over. So I have to change the font in like 57 places hahaha. There's got to be a better way.

is there a way to put in the output window with a trace of some sort, showing you what fonts are being used and where!?

if would be VERY useful if i could trace something like

Arial: _root.myButton.glow_mc frame 3

something along those lines.

thanks!!!!!

Nope... No such thing is available... I've been there and done that... and had to manually go each movieClips and start clicking all the textFields to verify it...

No need to yell at what other people have done... You never know who he/she really was... He/she might be a designer who's done their 110% to get the job done... and it might not be a good thing to see somebody yelling at what they have done... In the end of the day, the user do not care whether you have used timeline animation of fancy script animation... What it matters is a good output that the users can enjoy... ;)

can you maybe change the meta data in the font you have to match what flash is looking for?

HOW TO:

Missing fonts is a simple thing to fix – you have to modify your fonts mapping – you will find that under:
Edit \ Font Mapping …
Just modify the listed missing fonts mapping to correspond to the ones you want to replace with and you will be able to compile the swf with that updated font data.

Cheers!
