Hi-
Thanks in advance for any advice you all can provide. I've been asked to create a store locator for a flash site. The example I've been given can be viewed at www.verawang.com (click on store locator).

I'm guessing the best way to do this would be with XML which I've never actually done before. I'm a fast learner but I don't want to charge my client for extra time done researching since I'm a newbie.

My question is...Does anyone have an estimate on how long this would take someone semi-proficient in XML? Or just how much I should charge if I just charge a lump sum instead of by the hour to compensate for the extra time I'll need. It would be helpful if I knew the least amount I should charge and the most if possible.

You posted 12 minutes apart, and in the wrong forum. You're not going to get a reply that quickly, patience is key.

As far as the store locator is concerned, it's wouldn't be overly difficult to build, I'd say several hours but surely nothing more, if you go about it the right way. As for how much to charge, that's up to you and your pricing. Say you change $60, charge $60. For a lump sum, say it'll take you roughly 5 hours to do, $60 x 5 is $300. Charge $280 or $275 or something like that.

Yeah, I realize that I was being impatient. I just was surfing through the new posts section and kept seeing all these other people get tons of views like seconds after they post and no one was looking at mine. Anyway, I'm new to the fairly new to the forums posting wise so I'm still figuring them out. What would the right forum have been for this post?

Thanks for the advice. My guess would have been around $400 but that's probably high considering this is the first time I'll be putting my XML knowledge to use. I'll probably ask around $300 and knowing the client he'll argue me down to something lower.

I just hope that it doesn't take me something like 10 hours. Either way, it's good practice and something I want to start learning more about.
