View Full Version : simple 1 page layout

This client wanted a simple webpage with a gallery displaying his work. The most important thing to the client was that people immediately understood what kind of business he was in as soon as the entered the page.
I'm proud of my gallery. Any comments on it?

I did it in flash because my boss asked me to. Also, I know flash best so it's faster to do what I know than to go looking for new methods...this project had a deadline.
I agree it is plain but the client just wanted something very straightforward.

I bookmarked the page. It looks like a great tool and while its already nice looking I'm sure you can edit it to your tastes.
Even so, I am learning as much flash programming as possible and to do that it means I have to practice. This is only the second site I've done (for money).
In my opinion, those things (lightbox and other premade tools) are good to have in your toolbox, but before you go and use something someone else developed it's nice to know that you can make something all on your own. That's what I'm working on.

It looks like I designed it (not a compliment) ;) The different font styles and weights give it a hap-hazard look.
If you're going to use Flash you should take advantage of it. An image transition would be a nice start.
The "Back" and Next" buttons in the image viewer would be a little more useful if they were disabled when there aren't any images available.

I actually only used two different fonts (aside from the text box). Cloister Black was used because it's the company's logo. I think the different font weights give it heirarchy, but everyone is entitled to their opinion. See above for why I used flash on this project.
I do agree about the back and next buttons. that was pure laziness and I'm sure i'll get around to fixing it.
