Please help me! (general computer troubles)

Yesterday I formatted my C-Drive and installed Windows XP Pack 2 because when I was installing Nero some error occured and after the Reboot all the programs were gone! :mad:

So, well, I installed Windows XP again and when I was installing Office XP, the following error Occured:

ERROR 1305: SETUP CAN'T READ FILE:

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\MSCOMCTL.OCX
************************************************** ********

And also when I tried to install Nero, it was also not installed.

Today just a few minutes ago I installed Windows XP again :mad: and the same problem ocured while installing Office XP and Nero. :mad:


Can anybody help me, please? I am fed up of formatting the hard disk so many times and so frequently and installing Windows XP and other programs over and again. :mad:


If you are using Windows XP Professional Pack-2, and can send me the above file (i.e. C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\MSCOMCTL.OCX), I will try to put your file in that folder and try installing Office XP again.

Thanks for your kind help but I had already downloaded it form some website and the file worked but then during the installation other files also could not be read. So I stopped it again!

Yesterday I took the PC to the computer shop and I was told that they Repaired the Windows XP and it was ok. But again the same problem and my computer is getting Restarted again and again. :mad:

I am fed up! :mad:

when you copied the file, did you register it with the system? if not, copy the file there, then do this
START--> RUN and type "REGSVR32 MSCOMCTL.OCX" (No quotes)
