Really like the style - is there anyay to get the forums to mirror the front page style at all?

I know the forums are bought - but is there a way to control the look-and-feel?

Its shame to not have continuity.

I was posting today - and some threads got seriously ****ed - i was posting replies in a thread - and they were appearing randomly and being duplicated in the thread, just all over the place - it ended up in a massive mess.

Did this have anything to do with the change to the front page?

Now we are stuck with the fixed width, I guess... Not my favorite, but I guess I can live with that...
Other than that, there are some missing images which will be eventually deleted from the code, I presume...

Looks good... Thanks, Jesse and Strok... ;)

FYI... I saw FG's post and replied after that... Yet, my post is still sitting higher than FG's... The server might have wrong time set up...

Ah no sooner said than done :]

Is it just me (using Mozilla) - or does everything take about 2-3 seconds to finally stop shifting around / loading / adjusting when you refresh the page or navigate to a new page within the site/forum?

Would look awsome if there wasn't the banner down the right.

I am using IE7 and I do see 2~3 seconds pause if I refresh this thread... I only see the background image during that pause...

Yeah... the XXX banner is not really my best friend either because we should really utilize that space to display the forum wider especially when we are stuck with the fixed width... But then, it is what it is... People will used to that sooner or later...

I do notice that there is some CSS changes to the vB menus up on top that says User CP, FAQ and so on... Just minot stuff though...

@All: Fixed width is just our first take at this. We wanted to see what it'd be like but I'm inclined to agree that it's [b] not the way to go for the forums. Colors and menue, etc will all be fixed up to match new site layout over the next few days. Unfortunatley you can't do the forums prior to the switch because their licensing system checks the domain they are running on... so we had to swtcih the domain.

@ snapple: the threads getting stuffed up would be that your DNS entries were conflicting. We tried a new means of updating the DNS which is supposed to lessen the pain there, and it did. Everything is now propogated in about 8 hours Vs 4 or 5 days, but it's still not perfect. Blame the guys who invented the internet for that one ;)

My 2c: I wish the orange/red colors were just a tad toned down and lighter on the eyes (e.g., the bar at the top). Of course I'll get used to it but right now it's like a knife - slash! Maybe it's just me though :D

I agree with astgtciv... The orange is abit just too strong to my eyes... That includes the new 'Post Reply' button as well...

Yeah... Damn Al Gore... :(

I think the bar at the top looks great - really nice use of colours. However, i agree about the post reply btn - that just looks out of place.

Love the updates guys. It's great when you have been a member of these forums for sometime. You come on one day out the blue and to see it has all changed and not only that but changed for the better :):)

i love the orange bar across the top.

change the post reply button to match the font / color / look feel of the orange bar across the top. that would tie stuff together a little better.

I do live the orange bar on top of the page, but it does not really go with the forum... and the footer of the site is really off... Are we going to skin the VB by any chance??? Just curious... ;)

Yeah we'll skin vB but at the moment we're trying to address the tutorials section because of all the "The new tutorials section sucks like a ****" kinda comments we're getting.

I can't believe people loved the old "one list to rule them all" approach so much!

I can - and its fairly obvious why.

It is over complicated now. It is impossible to see all the tutorials. Having it all in one list was simple and easy to use.

The new way has taken both of those things away. I think it is hurrendous as it stands now.

Its a classic over complication of something that worked before - 'if it aint broke, don't fix it'

Hehe, "aint broke" is a matter of perspective my friend. That page was horrendous to maintain from our side, and massive to download if on anything other than a fast connection. That said, I did actually like the singular long listing myself.

My real issue is that the alternate view (one long list) still exists via another page anyway, so all we have really done is added a new way and made it the default...

Anyway, I have put a statement linking the Site Map at the top of each of the category indices, so hopefully that will satisfy everyone until such a time as we get a Tutorials only listing. I’m even working right now on re-ordering the tutorials so they are in the exact order they were in back on the old site.

Yeap, valid point, i didn't think about that.
