Hey all, I'm starting a project soon that requires a video player that connects to FMS 2.0. They would like to detect flash player versions and choose a video format depending on the version (6 and 7 get the old spark video, 8 gets the new VP6 video). Whats the best way to do this only writing one set of code? I know I can't use the FLVPlayback component as it is Flash 8 only...am I stuck using NetStream/NetConnection/Video object? Its ok if I am, just wanna get the right idea before I start work. Thanks for your help.

Hey... :)
I think you are stuck with the NetStream object if you were to fully support the FMS 2 scripting...
I'd say create only one Player that displays either FLVPlayBack component or custom Player depending on the user Flash Player version... Or, force the users to upgrade to FP8/9 as another option... ;)

man i wish the force thing was an option lol. Whatever, I've used NetStream/NC a lot, shouldn't be too hard. Thanks for your help man.

Well... Put a textField and type in UPGRADE, UPGRADE, and make it black on black background... I am sure some people will recognize it and will upgrade... :D
