So I know that this has been brought up before (and relatively recently) but I'd like to see it so very much that I think it's worth raising again...
A Games forum is most definitely in order- Here's my reasoning:
1. It would offer a home to a rather large subset of ActionScript questions
2. It would serve as a knowledge-base for game-related topics. This is really the most important point as it would cut down on repetitive posts while offering a consolidated starting point for guests/members. Extracting this huge set of topics would facilitate stronger focus in the ActionScript forums.
3. Mathematics would have a more natural home
4. It's very successful at a far worse board (http://board.flashkit.com/board/forumdisplay.php?f=5). I do NOT like taking my business elsewhere, but it offers something as[org] doesn't.
5. Those new to ActionScript/game development will find a more pillowy patience in a forum with members who are interested in games!
6. It could quite probably provide a means to have forum sponsored challenges, adding direction to the rather stagnant but promising 'Just for Kicks Challenges'
7. ActionScript game development will undoubtedly become a larger field. FlashPlayer is so very ubiquitous and successful and the new vm/as3 offer a far more robust, capable vessel for game deployment. The Nintendo Wii will ship with a flash player! (i think). A flash game, flOw (http://ps3.ign.com/objects/829/829990.html), is being released as a PS3 market title. As ActionScript game development explodes, it would be nice to have an established forum to foster those specifically interested in games- especially those migrating from other game dev sectors.
8. Games as a subject balloons out of the scope of ActionScript.
9. Please?
And so that this isn't merely beating a dead horse, an Open Source forum would be kinda hot.
