I have started creating a flash movie that was originally going to be played via a computer onto a 62" plasma as a sort of slide show presentation (it requires no mouse clicks or anything).

But I have since found out that they want to play it via a DVD onto the plasma.

My movie has a number of different movie clips that play one after the other with a pause in between, so it is not that fancy but I don't think it will export well to a mov file.

Is there a way to play a swf from a DVD, or to convert a swf to a DVD movie?

Any help would get fantastic (and give you good karma)!

Use a converter, to convert the movie to a video format (DVD compatible), and then burn that movie on the DVD.

Two questions then:
1) do you know if that will work ok with the series of MCs that are within my main movie?
2) is there a Mac equiv? (if not I can send my flash file home and do it from there, but I would rather keep it 'in-house' so to speak).

*** Anyone looking to use the software above please read my comments near the end of this thread ***

1- It should... Does on my tests.
2- Nope! don't know of any Mac equiv...

You can always mail me the .swf, I can test it out for you.

I did try the one that 'anon' posted it worked better then expected. It was a little choppy, but I think I can fix that in my flash movie.

I will try cupdear's also just to compare.

There is another way. vidflash (http://www.vidflash.com) is on-line free service. It doesn't need to download software. It works for any OS. I think it's very useful. :D

the last link works fine! but i'd rather advise to you to use Flash to Video Encoder-the first link. the best choice, as i tried a lot of converters of such a type.

Yes i did some tests yesterday and I think you are right about the Flash to Video Encoder being the best. My only issue is that it doesn't stop at the end of my presentation I have to manually stop it.

Because I want this video to loop on the dvd I can't have extra time at the end or it will look odd.

Is there an FSCommand or something I can do to my movie that the encoder will recognize and know when to stop recording?

it's strange that you have to stop it manually...i didn't notice that! maybe you should ask geovid's tech support? once i asked them for an advice, and they helped me a lot!

Just a quick WARNING to anyone looking to convert their flash to DVD as I was. I ordered "Flash To Video Encoder PRO" from Geovid and was sent a password that doesn't work. Since then I have contacted the company about 6 times and still have not had a reply.

I would at all costs avoid doing business with GeoVid. I am calling my credit card company today to cancel the payment on the software.
