hi, does anyone know how to make small text in flash that isn't anti-aliased? - i mean, not *fuzzy*.

hi!
yes
first , you can choose specific fonts for that, wich you can recude but without antialiasing cause of the square shapes. second, in the text options panel, select "use device font".

if you don't use device fonts (for stuff like silkscreen or other pixeled art)

save them as gif in photoshop (no matte)
import them to flash
and on the library panel, click properties and uncheck "allow smothing"

your text/gif will look as pixeled as it can be!

I finally figured out....

ever tried to set the display mode to "show all" and then adjust the window size? the small texts become "fussy"!
that is, 2advanced didn't use any special techs, they just match a particular "ratio" so Flash willnot smooth it.

unfortunately, i haven't discovered the "particular ratio" yet.

note: if you can't open the menu under a Flashplayer5, then run the Flashplayer4 once and open the file again. Some swf of version 5 can't disable the menu of player4.

note2:neither way given by reply1 nor reply2 works! "device font" can't be seen unless the remote computer has the same font; the "bitmap" method will produce a lot of unwanted interpolation when enlarged.

I figured it out today!
With lots of experiments, I tested out that effect.

In flash5, you need to apply an alpha-tween (even from 99%to 100%) to the GIF. Otherwise, it will still be anti-aliased.
