Is there a single software package that can rip a DVD and then convert that to an FLV in one shot? Or do I need to purchase a separate ripper and converter?
I've looked everywhere and unfortunately have only found the separate programs.
What are easy to use converts or rippers? (I want the client to be able to use this software)
Thanks! :D

Hello!
I just had a project where I needed to do this.
I first made the swfs in Flash 8, then I had to convert the swfs to AVI.
The best and cheapest way I did this was using a 3rd party program called swf2video pro 1.0. you can find this at www.flashants.com.
After the avi's were created I then made a dvd using Roxio Easy media Creator 7.5
Side note: converting flsh files to avi in flash is not the best method and a third party software is something I advise.
Hope this helps

He wants to rip a DVD (not burn one...) and then encode the rip outputed video into a FLV...
Not quite the same you're talking about!

I think ffmpeg can convert VOB to Flv.. first you need to rip the DVD to disk, but there are several programs that can do that.

Hi apolloman!
I think "video to flash converter PRO" at geovid is one of the best ways.
This info I found on that site:
Video to Flash Converter PRO is a video converter to SWF and FLV streaming Macromedia Flash files. You can convert Video AVI, ASF, WMV, MOV, MP4, MPEG, MPG files to Flash SWF and FLV easily and quickly! You will have full control over the converting process: choose video and audio quality, framerate, resolution, duration. Video to Flash Converter PRO version allows you to select and preview initial and final points of video, add you own image, video, watermark logo and text messages to copyright your flash videos. Video to Flash Converter PRO can easily generate html code with converted flash file and control buttons for your website. You do not need to install any special programs or plugins. Select a video file and convert it to flash simply and easily!
Ok it costs 99 USD. Is this too expensive for you? Well I know everyone don't like waste of time and money. But personally I more than this hate to do my work over. So I prefer use worth software. If you appreciate quality you understand me :)
Good luck

another variant to try is VisiFly.com. i've got it recently (39.95, not much), and now just happy-it's a very easy to use program! it converts video to flash just step by step, so everything is clear for even newbie in conversion (for example as i am :)).

I've had to do this a few times recently. I used FlaskMPG to convert the VOB to and uncompressed AVI to preserve as much quality as possible.

Then I just used the FLV encoder that comes with Flash to convert the AVI to FLV.

I have used TotalVideoConverter before. It ripped directly from DVD to FLV. I was very pleased and it was very fast! It cost like $40.

Hello! :))
Well let me say that cheaper doesn't mean better unfortunately. :( I had fraps some time ago... It costs about 30$ but it was awful! I lost my money.
So now I listen responses about softs and only after that buy what I like it. This way I found geovid's site. I like their progs and tech support. :)) Well it's in my opinion of course
P.S. Well if saying about cheap tools I can suggest video to flash converter (http://www.geovid.com/Video_to_Flash_Converter). It's good like PRO version and works on the same platform..
Good luck! :))

Hi again! By the way....
Thanks Tortura21 for suggest about VisiFly tool. It looks a little bit strange at first look bcoz method "step by step" is new for me. But all in all it works great and easy too. I've shown it for my friend. He liked it and said that he want to get it for himself :)
Well tastes differ :)

I also use this tool!!!! It's very easy for me!!!;)
First use dvd shrink to rip dvd to "vob" and then convert "vob" to "flv" using super video converter.
They are all free.
