View Full Version : Static Font will not display

I am working on a website project. The navigation bar is done in Flash in order to utilize a special font that the client requested. At first I used dynamic text for each of the buttons, but the client could not see them on his computer. After much frustration with different font embedding methods, I decided it would just be easier to switch to static text for this project. Still, the text does not appear on the clients computer.
The client is using Windows XP Home and still cannot see the text. I've tested the site using an XP Pro computer (separate from the computer I'm developing on) and have been able to see the font when I used dynamic text and when I used static text. Both computers were tested using the latest version of the IE browser.
Can anyone think of a reason that this font will not display on certain computers?
Here is a link to the test version of the site: http://www.pixelbox.cc/arrows

I guess you meant those fonts in the tab area, right???
IE7/FP7/WXPPro does not display the font...
FF2/FP9/WXPPro does display the font...
Try creating a static textField off stage area, and type those words in there and publish it again...

Thanks for the quick reply. I've uploaded a new copy of the navigation tabs with the changes you suggested.

Ok, this time I put a dynamic textbox offstage with my all of the words in the navigation, and the font is embeded.

My IE still does not render the font correctly with the new version with and without installing that font... Weird...

As a quick solution could you just Break Apart a few times until its a raw shape

That sure is another option if nothing works... But two problems with that method is that it increases the overall file size and you cannot edit the text later on...

Breaking the font appart causes it to be a little harder to read. I'm thinking of just ditching the Flash nav and doing a DHTML one instead. This is a real hassle. I'll just let Photoshop preserve the font's clarity for all eternity as a .gif file.

I really don't understand why it is not working... Can you create a simple sample and upload it before you ditch the Flash nav??? ;)

I stripped the file down. Attached you'll find a movieclip with a static textfield in it.

Anyone know a good program to edit fonts? Maybe something is wrong with the font file itself?

Um... Maybe I am missing something here... It just works fine... :(
I just get the font and FLA attachments from this thread, and published the SWF & HTML file and it renders just fine on my home computer...
WXP/IE7/FF1.5/FP8
I'll double check this when I get to office tomorrow morning...
