DeviantART.com styled JavaScript question

I was wondering if anyone knew where I could find a tutorial that would show me how to create a menu like the one used at www.deviantart.com for their Categories drop-down menu?

I don't plan on having it drop down from a button but I do like the scrolling effect and would like to create something like that without having to make it in Flash since I'm trying to build a hybrid site.

a hybrid site? personally i think Flash would be better for that sort of job than JS would be. JS behaves differently in a lot of browsers (particularly for what you're going to try to do) -- and some browsers don't even enable it. With Flash, i think you'd get better consistency in performance cross-platform than you would with JS unless you had a ton of time and experience to test it and make sure it's very very compatible.

regarding an actual tutorial, your guess is as good as mine :)

Yeah, I had a feeling that'd be the answer. It's not a big deal since making it in Flash is rather easy, it was just a skill I was hoping to have.

could always just do it for fun and on the side... if you end up perfecting it, you could always port it over to your site when you're done.
