View Full Version : Imported sound has been truncated

I'm trying to import a relatively large MP3 into my movie. I was able to do this without problem earlier, and it played fine, but now Flash won't import the MP3 into the movie without cutting off the first :01 or so of sound! This is absolutely maddening. Can someone give me a clue as to why Flash acts so weird with sounds?

Or better yet, an idea of how to get this sound into Flash without it just deciding that I don't need that first second of audio?

So is there no answer to this? Can anyone help me, or at least give me a suggestion how I might deal with this problem?

How large is that mp3?
Can you post a link to it?

The MP3 is about 1.3MB. It can be downloaded here: http://illumination.missouri.edu/xyzzy/composite.mp3

That's a mpeg video, not a straight .mp3... But even then, when I import it, and play it, it isn't truncated.

What's a MPEG video? The MP3 was ripped from an AIFF file in iTunes. How is the file a video?

Flash just randomly screws with imported audio? And nobody thinks this is a problem, they just go, "well, that's Flash for ya" ..?

Madness!

Try this one...

I've added a second to the head of it...

Thanks for taking the time to help me. I find it odd that no one else has even heard of this issue (which is an assumption I'm making since this has generated almost no responses).

I have already tried this. Flash just cuts more of the sound off. Besides, this is a *kludge*. There is no reason for Flash to edit my sounds at all. Is this just an example bad audio handling in Flash, that we have to hope that Adobe will clean up?

As I posted earlier, even on your original sound, I never got a trucated sound whem importing it in Flash, so looks more like it's a "it's your problem only..." problem.

I'd second that response: Never had the same problem with sounds getting truncated. However, I have had that happen when doing a lot of timeline-related sound with keyframed audio. I think the problem is not witht he file, or with the software (entirely) but caused by your implementation. Some other piece of code, or other activity that is causing the problem. You might want to post the files or a simplified file exhibiting the bug and see if others can solve the bug that way.
