Hi all, i know this sounds complicated but i was wondering if it's possible to use a button(rollover) to control an animated MC and to slow down and stop according to the speed of mouse and rolloff direction? Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, tia.

We'd need more details...
See this tutorial first off:
http://www.actionscripts.org/tutorials/intermediate/actionscripted_movement/index.shtml

What exactly do you want to have happen?
When does the clip stop, and when does it slow down, and in relation to what...

Hi Jesse, i want to put a button(say 200x200) on top of a MC,which is constrained to the hit area. on rollover i want the MC to follow the mouse and on rollout i want the MC to slow down, bounce off the hit area and stop in relation to the direction of the mouse rollout. i know it sounds like alot ;) but thnx again.

Sorry Snake but I still can't picture it...

Are the button and the MC separate on the stage, or is the button in the MC, or is it directly on top of the MC.
If you're dragging a button, you're never going to be able to rollout...

Bouncing off the hit area wouldn't be so hard if the MC was being tweened with Actionscript, but if the user is dragging it they could bring it in on any angle, so getting it to move in relation would be a nightmare.
Sorry to sound like a doomsayer but it sounds mighty dificult...

take a look at this tutorial at least:
http://www.actionscripts.org/tutorials/intermediate/actionscripted_movement/index.shtml

It might help you with the actionscriting of movement if you can figure out how to determine the current angle/pth of the clip on rollout...
