over and down state of button not showing up. Help !

I have a button with the on state with one line of text. the over and down states have several lines of text, and the hit state has just a small square.
the problem is that only the on state is showing up, when I test the movie. It works fine with I have simple buttons enabled, but when I publish it only the on state shows up and nothing happens.. like its not a button. But it is a button.
I dont get it?? Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? i am so confused by this one.
I have a presentation on Monday and I would really like to fix this soon.
I think that its a pretty easy thing, but I can't figure it out@

you do have the font installed don't you?

Yeah, I do.. I will try it with another font and see what happens.
But I have tried this on several pages on my site, and it just doesn't work..
any ideas why?
only works when buttons are enabled but after its published, its doesn't.

you are a genius!!! I was using a font that wasn't installed,I guess. Once I changed the font to verdana, it works!!!
