Text effect

How can I make text effect like this :

To achieve that look,
all it is a moviclip with a bunch of frames within. Say u have the words "welcome". you make your text a movie clip. break it apart.welcome is 7 words. so you hit the f6 key about 7 or 8x. depends on how fast you want them to type out. on the first frame delete all the text.then edit them to like numbers before they turn into the full word text.like for the 2nd frame, delete all the text. put a 1 for the w. then frame 2. put a W. You see. now its like animating from a 1 to a W. then so on? get it? sorry if not clear enough.
