Flash Gordon

Hey,
I've never seen this before, but I'm working on a project where there are around 550 .bmp and.png images that are all 1000 x 750.
Each time Flash displays one of its frames, my RAM increases somewhere between 5-15 Mb! After a couple of frames, Flash stops running as says it ran out of memory.
Is there anything I can do to help with this memory issue when the user is viewing the .swf file?
:)
