Hi,
If my email address is on my flash page (or within my flash site) can a spambot get hold of it like it can with html etc?
I've just managed to get rid of all the spam i was receiving and so i'm very protective over my email address, but I do meed a way for people to contact me.
thanks for any help.
Julian

Howdy and Welcome... :)
Normally no, but if somebody wants to fancy about it, they sure can get it...

i see a lot of people display their address with special characters and spaces; firstname //dot// lastname //at// server // dot // com. don't know if it helps to avoid spambot's... but i'm sure their a nerd writing an algorithm to put it back together

Thanks CyanBlue. That's kind of what I thought. But I thought I heard somewhere that the bots can now read flash sites!!
sophistikat, that's one way of doing it. But If the bots cant read flash then there is no point.

Google bots sure can read SWF with no problem... But wouldn't that be different from what you were asking??? Just becase Google can read the SWF does not mean that your email address will be open to the spammers because spammers do not use Google to search for your email address...
At any rate... Google can read only static textFields... So, if you don't want the Google see your email address, make that dynamic textField... Problem solved... ;)
