well i would suggest getting a book on the version of flash that you have for example you should probably get a Flash 8 book - that would be a start - flash isn't all that intuitive and to assume you can just sit down and start building sites off the top of your head might be a little ambitious. Games usually require actionscript which also takes training/experience.

Blah, I personally don't put much faith into buying tech books. There is SO much free information online, you really don't get into needing books until you get so involved you're over most people's heads. In ten years of Flash I have only bought 2 books, and they were mainly because I needed a portable source to take with me on jobs.

There is no reason you couldn't do online tutorials for the next 10 years and learn just as much without spending a cent. This site is a great place to start, so is kirupa, or flashkit.com

School is another thing that is highly overrated when it comes to tech fields. Usually by the time something makes it into a classroom, it is on it's way to obsoletion in the real world. You can still get some great fundamentals, but it will NEVER be the end-all of your training. Like, I value some of the OOP training I got in college, but the syntax is almost totally useless now. I value some of the the 3d animation fundamentals I got, but the programs we used to animate are dead now. Maybe a single course at a computer tech center or something might be more relevant, but state accredited degrees tend to be a bit behind.

i've found my tech degree and my books very useful - but yeah the free way works good too - tutorials are good if they work for you - they've never been much use to me but i guess everyone is different.
