Constructive feedback requested for my updated art site.

http://metrov2000.com

I'm more interested in technical and speed issues than esthetic criticisms, although all thoughts are welcome.

Thanks so much, Metrov

metrov8,

Well its late here in the u.k....4:45 in the morning and i am feeling a little tired, but think i might have started to see things...naked people and nipples, was it my sleeping pattern that made me see such things, or was it your intro ?

I got to your intro pretty quick and it was smooth, but when i clicked on the enter site button, woa, i was really waiting. Waiting for so long that i got fed up and left.

What i saw was a full screen....in my opinion a big NO = imeadiate escape factor.

I am on the college computers and they're all pretty damn fast, so i was surprised that i had to wait. Have you got some heavy content in there ?

Could have just been a one off. So i am sorry for the lack of feedback, i shall try again in a couple of hours and after one more cup of coffee.

I waited for about 50-80 seconds and nothing was happening.

I'll give it a go later,

Snapple :)

Thanks, but, I dunno, I've tested on a 56k dial up modum and everything came up pretty darned fast.

By the way, there's a pretty gigantic EXIT button on the bottom of the page.

Hi Snapple,

I figured out why you're getting nothing. The site was published as Flash 6. So people who still have Flash 5 player don't get anything.

I've now re-published as Flash 5, so if you'd like to give it another shot, you should be able to pull it up now.

thanks, Metrov

metrov8,

Ah right, thanks for chaning that, i thought i was going mad.

Well the first thing that really impressed me were the super fast loading times, no more then 2 seconds. Sounds a bit over the top, but i think fast laoding times are essential when you try and present a crisp, clean, efficient site...just adds to the over all affect.

There is nice continuity running throughout the site, and the menu was always there fore me, so i never got lost.

One thing that might be a good idea is to make (not on the menu, but on the main stage) the HIT areas on the text based buttons a little more obvious, with the grey and the white i think it might be a good idea to have some definition in there.

Really liked the way the user can view parts of the paintings section in more detail, but i had to search for that well hidden close button.

I really did like the site in particular the navigation in the 'retrospective' area.

Although this might be a little picky, i feel that i should mention that the some of the pages just looked un-balanced or unfinished, e.g the 'rocks' section, i think it was the text in the box on the right hand side. Just made it look a little strange, like there was something missing throughout the site ?

I did really like the site, really quick and efficient, but prehaps a little more imaginative navigation ? Better defined buttons and text, and content appearing a little more inventively ? Just a few suggestions.

Thanks for taking the time to read my comments, of course you can go home, swear and shout and say 'who the hell is this Snapple' in which case i would not take offence, you can take on board what you want.

Thanks again, Snapple :)

sorry I'm on a dial-up and it is taking forever to load :(
annoying that when you enter it tells you that art is loading, but then when you click on the buttons you get "art is loading" again, the first time kinda implies that that stuff loaded, so why AGAIN?!! Maybe use different wording so it is more logical?
Just a little gripe :)
