Launch Advanced slide show (http://www.mcartordesign.com/flash_portfolio_launch.html)
Check out my portfolio. It is a 300KB file with preload so it my take a minuet to load.
I did not design this to be used on the web but, I really wanted to get some feed back. I really love ActionScript.org. There are very few people in Des Moines Iowa that can appreciate flash.
The great thing about this portfolio is you can type in the page # you want then hit enter and it will jump you there. Notice that the number changes to the current page and if you type in a invalid Number it will return the value of your current page in the input box. Try using your arrow keys and if you hover over Item# for a minuet it will give you directions.
The other thing is the slide show. If you hit the play button you get a slide show type preview, The cool thing is the delay before it changes to the next picture as well as the ability to start from any page and play forward from that page.
I had to create the delay with blank frames. Does any one know how to make a delay just with action scripting???

sorry Jaredly I tried a few times to look at your site but failed completely.
The first time I got the orange launch page and got a little confused as there was no obvious button mouseover on the launch text so it wasn't until I randomly clicked that I launched the window! (doh)
But that is as far as I got, nothing loaded into the pop-up :(
sorry, nice orange though! ;)

jaredly,
I am on a dial up connection now and (as you said) it took quite a while to get there, but i did and this is what i thought :
It was nice and simple, you might want to consider some sort of instruction telling the user that they can type in a page number.
Although, this is, to an extent, not all that useful. I mean you cannot see what picture your going to, what page number corresponds to what picture, and you don't know how many pages there are anyway - so i was baffled  Seemed a bit of a waste.
The pics were nice though. The HTML BG color was a different orange to the Flash stage color - quite obvious.
The OVER states of the jump buttons were jerky and did not loop continuously. That is a minor point though.
I appreciate that you did not intend for it to be viewed as a site, and it cannot really be critiqued as one.
It is easy to use and minimal, but the question is....does it look like it was done in flash, could be done in any fully fledged language.
Was effective though, and the color scheme was nice.

Thanks for the info. I really am happy to here all of you coments and I thank you for taking the time to check my work.
I am not able to see the difference in colors, what browser are you running in, are you windows or mac?
Also any sugestions on how to make it a little more flashy?
I took another look, did you mean the color of the logo compared to the back ground?

aha, I got to see the page this time :)
I'm afraid I agreed with Snapple as to the point of the number input when there is no guiding index or indication as to how many pics there are. Typing numbers in blind seems a bit, nice, but superfluous. Is this just a demo though? Will you be utilising that input method more effectively on a larger scale?
Blimey, that orange looks a totally different colour to the one that showed up at home - grrr to different monitor calibrations. Wish there was some way to determine exactly what other people see, ahh I can dream..
Works like a charm though Jaredly, and the timing was nice ;)

I plan on compressing the photos and making scrolling thumb nails that are numbered. I am also planning on making a nice masked transition.
Thanks for the look
