View Full Version : File size...how big is too big?

I have a swf file 187*135 that contains about 46 video stills put together to cycle through an animation. The file clocks in at 200k. Should I bother uploading this file or is it too big by today's standards? If I cut the file down much more it wouldn't be as effective to get the message across.

Thanks

Personally I think you are ok with a file 200k size. I recently visited a particular site with a 750k Flash intro, No preload, no "skip button" and a slow server. I was on my 56k dialup at home and it hurt! I think you can get away with quite a bit as long as people know how long they have left to wait or how big the file is.

Using the same file I took out half the frames. Looks ok but I noticed when saved under a different name and published...the resulting swf file is still 200k (the same as the file with twice as many frames.

What's goin on?
