But what I can not understand is how come you obviously prefer MySQL and PHP over ASP and SQL. Is SQL less powerful than MySQL?

I did a little ASP and it seemed too... verbose to me. I still plan on learning ASP.NET just because I think with Java, Flash, PHP, ASP.NET, C, C++ and a few other languages under my belt, no employer can send me away for not knowing their favourite language. PHP was just a choice I made and all the tutes I learned from were for PHP and mySQL, so yeah... that's why I guess.

The answer makes sense. By the way, let me ask you something, despite my tremendous ignorance in this aspect:

If you want to deal with databases with ASP and .NET you have to use Windows servers; if you go for PHP or Perl, you are fine with Unix servers. OK, so far so good.
But what kind of servers do you need if you decide to go with ColdFusion? Windows 2000? Unix? Or is it indistinct which one you choose?

I think CF is Windows 2000 only.

Maybe that explains why Microsoft is in such good terms with Macromedia; at least compared to the relationship with other gladiators in that arena...
