I'm not sure where this should be posted but here goes:
I am setting up a a web based form and i need to know how to beable to retreive the data that the user inputs.
I looked in the tutorials and I saw one that looked close "loadvariables Interaction" but not sure about the whole text document part...
Thanks in advance

Um... the only part that I have gotten from you post is form and retrieving the user inputs... Are you talking about using server side languages??? If that's what you want, there are some tutorials on FlashKit...

see I don't know how to do this at all so wether it's server side or not I don't know which would work better. I'd prefer it to be sent to me via e-mail or something rather then having to retreive the data manually.
In more detail:
i want a form where they (a user)can input certain fields
name
phone #
Branch
message
starting date
ending date
Then when that is all filled out the hit a button (send or done) and the info is saved. then i get either notice that there is new info, or I get an e-mail with the data.
hope that helps...
I'm exploring the possibilities of using the flash based guest book to do this but I don't think it is going to lead me the right way
yup.. you need to have a server side script. the one that I have is done by using Perl script. let me know if you need it so I can send you one. it will do exactly what you want (once users enter their info, you will get notice by e-mail). before I go on.. is your server supports anything like Perl-CGI, ASP, or PHP? let me know about this too; otherwise, it will not work.

toke thanks...
the server is a windows 2000 machine so it should support ASP, I think i can get the PHP from a freeware place.
Now this script will e-mail me stating that there is a new entry, or will it include the info that the user inputted. Just wondering...
Again thankyou.... this is a new step for me...
My boss tends to think that in dreamweaver there is a simple way to do this as well do you know anything about it?
the perl-cgi script I have will include every info that users type in. but since you have windows 2000 server, asp should work better (so you don't have to get another server that support cgi). Are you in need of this script right away? If you are not, then give me sometimes and I'll see what I can do with the code I have.
About Dreamweaver... nope. never heard anything about that. may be ... with the extension stuff???

The sooner the better... I was looking around at some other stuff and came across this...
I'm not sure if this will work on a windows machine though...

Yes.. Matt's script will work well. anyway.... here is a link to the asp form mail (in case you need it right away)... http://www.were-here.com/forum/tutorials/asp_mail/index.html

thanks I'll take a look into that as well... No I'm just trying to decide on which to use... I also found:
Soupermail and
Mailpost
which both seem like they would work as well
