Here is a simple solution for you... Pack that computer and send it to me... Or, downgrade to XP... :p

I don't have Vista, so I don't really know what to do, but I have read many people yapping about Flash not working correctly on Vista and they had to change to the Classic Theme to make Flash work properly... Did you try that???

Its not that bad - its just hard to assure that everything is compatible with a new operating system - and they only get more and more complex and time goes on. There will be a lot of compatibility issues with Vista for a while until we can figure out all the quirks and get them taken care of. And, really, the easist way to do that is to let the users figure them out (they do a better job then us anyway) and take it from there. We only have so many monkeys of our own to try and figure out all the issues that come along with a new OS.

We have more content than we have editors to deal with it - this is especially a problem around launch time - especially especially for a launch as big as this and especially x 3 when on top of a major OS release affecting even non-launch applications. Its messy : )

Hi everyone - Vista - Did anyone tell you how much they hate Vista and that after all XP is superior. I also bought a new computer and problems started to happen. Granted I have an way older version of Flash (2004) and Adobe CS2.

Problem:

I cannot open Flash is another adobe product is opened. So I have to close them, start Flash and re-open them. When Flash is opened, often Illustrator won't open.

When I click on the toolbar in Flash, not always, Flash closes without warning. I am learning to save as often as possible.

Sometime when InDesign is opened, Flash will hang when opening.

Well, this is trully frustrating since I have to work with most of the cs2 programs and Flash. I hate it - It slows down my work.

I searched Adobe and did not find anything about the behavior.

I probably won't be much of help, but I sometimes had problem with Flash and Photoshop on many various versions on XP... If I have PS opened up, Flash does not run and vice versa... Some people says that it only happens with illegal version of software but it wasn't the case... No solution I was able to find... :(

erm - stating the obvious - but how much RAM does your machine have?

Hey,

I have an ok computer - dual core Intel 1.86 ghz - 3 gigs ram 320 gigs hard drive - nice video card 128 with MB ram (could be better I concede).

Oh CyanBlue, needless to say, my version is also a legal one - I do not use illegal copies of anything.

Weird... I did what the Kirupa forum said and it worked for me. Can't really help any more than that. Sorry. :(
Did you try mailing Mr Kirupa?

I really hate Vista - It has caused me only problems. I had it on my other PC and after 4 months I just reformatted the drive, re-installed XP and all is well with that one. However, I do not have this kind of time on my hands with the computer I use for work especially with the amount of software I would have to reload on it without counting all the settings to redo, etc...

The problem with the slow moving opening of movie clips in Flash exists also on XP. I am not sure what it is due to. I also have it on Vista on Flash MX, Flash 2004 as well as trial of FLASH CS3. Did not have it on older systems. So what the deal? I do not think that it is a video problem since the video cards I have now are more powerful than the ones I used before on the system where the problem did not occur.

I have resolved the problem with opening Illustrator and Flash at the same time by running in compatibility mode XP SP2.

So if anyone finds the answer to getting rid of the slow motion opening clips that would be good. the only work around I have found is opening the clip from the library instead of clicking on the stage. Then it works ok. It is just annoying because it is more intuitive to double click on the movie clip rather than opening it from the library. It still helps a little. And don't swear when you inadvertently double click on a clip. You'll just have to drink a cup of coffee as it is trying to open veeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrryyyyyyyyyyyyy slowly!
:)

Hi flashdudette

Did you ever get this sorted out?

flashdudette

Actually I have it working right now on this computer. :D I have several versions of Flash (I guess I am nostalgic) and they are all OK including Flash CS3. My son has the problem on his laptop which has a good video and good processor. Really I am not sure what causes the problem.

However from time to time there is still the weird problem of crashing Flash when clicking on the tool bar. This is even more annoying especially if you do not save constantly. Since I use Flash a lot to redraw stuff for print it was driving me nuts. :( This does not happen on CS3 either.

All the other problems between apps in Adobe suites CS3 have been corrected. They still happen though when using any CS2 app. They do not work together. You have to close one to open another. Not practical.

I have a new PC with Vista. Vista is another big peace of malware - well almost. I hope that SP1 will correct the MANY problems it has. Thank you Microsoft.

I hope you get things corrected.

and, merry Christmas in the mean time.
