Hi there. I'm still a bit new to this. I'm trying to create a website where people can post specific items for sale and search for items. I would really like to stick with flash... but i'm not sure how, or where to begin. Someone told me arrays, but someone else told me that was too slow and that i could create a database that would update when each new person put in an entry. Someone else told me that i would have to use mySQL for the database, which i don't know, nor do i know if its going to cost me anything or how i would go about that. Please help me find some direction for this project... its ever so much more complicated than i ever could have dreamed!:o

you better be getting big bucks for this...
if you havent worked with databases, your best bet (sorry to say) is probably to look for a premade shopping cart system, which will probably not be flash

If you do decide to do it with flash, one way I can think of to do it would be to communicate with the database with php files. You would just send your variables to the php file and the php would do all the database stuff. But of course, you need to learn a bit of php to do that. It's not all that hard if you know programming well enough. Look up "flash e-mail php" to find a tutorial that goes over a flash e-mail form sending its variables to a php file for processing. That should get you started.
