I know it's typical, there's a problem with a flash movie and while your looking at it, you can't seem to find the answer why...
this is one of those things...
I'm working on a site for my job, I have the main movie that all the separate movies are being loaded into.. each movie has it's own preloader on it.
I come across, randomly, an issue when pressing on a link to load the external movies, it reloads the main template.
I've check the preloader scripts, changed the preloader, checked the buttons, even went as far as making a clip with 10 separate loaders in it to load each movie on different key frames.
I'm at a complete loss... any words of wisdom?
thanks all...

No idea what your talking about.
Can you post a link to your page so hat we might be able to seethe problem for ourselves?

sure.... I should have thought about that in the first place.

"main template" refers the the swf file that's placed into the HTML document. That file houses the buttons and a loader to load all the external swfs into that frame. That, for some reason, is the part that gets reloaded on it's own.
click on any of the links across the top and at some point, cached or not cached it will reload the main movie.

Sorry i dont understand:confused:
The main template?
what i do see is the preloader displays again when you got back to a page you just visited. Thought it is milliseconds the preloader is visible for. is this what your talking about?

hmmm... until everything is cached, including all the external swfs, yes, everything replays the preloader. Once they're cached, that should go away.
What I've done is created a main movie, that everything is loaded into that's what I consider the 'main template'- maybe I'm using incorrect terminology.
That part is the where the issue lies... if you keep refreshing your browser at some point, when clicking on a main link, the whole movie blanks, and then this part (main buttons, side bar of info, music buttons) all reloads... and the pictures that are under the "home" link come back up, even if you have clicked any of the other links,...... the little equalizer for the music stops working as well.
I'm trying my best to explain the issue... but my client, my boss and myself have noticed it.

It hit refresh a dozen or so times pressed some buttons hit refresh another dozens or so times pressed some more buttons hit refresh again again again.
No problems with the sound though it is a pain when you turn it off and then it turns itself back on again when you load another page.
In all instances of refresh(20+times) the main site loaded then the photo in the center of the site. The first time i visited the site the the navigation loaded and then center photo.
What browser are you testing it on?
I am using mozilla firefox

Yeah, i'm working on the sound issue right now... I'm still pretty new to the more complicated actionscript I'm trying to use. so, it's coming. :)
It sounds like it's all loading correctly for you... and none of those times you found that, when clicking another link, the whole page reloaded?
It looks like this.... you browse to the site, you get the navigation, then the photos, you click events or any of the other links and reloads the navigation and the photos again.
I had thought that it might have been skipping around keyframes or that the preloader wasn't scripted properly, but it is.
I've been using safari, but it's been tested on firefox as well as IE and it does it pretty regularly.

It looks like this.... you browse to the site, you get the navigation, then the photos, you click events or any of the other links and reloads the navigation and the photos again.
1. I empty Firefox cache
2. I visit the site, navigation loads then center photo. i click on some buttons and the navigation never ever reloads
3. I exit the site and revisit only center photo seems to visibly load. navigation already visible and know sign of it having to load in the first place.

I guess I'm still stuck... it's making me feel like I'm crazy, because I really see no good reason this should be happening in the first place. It's a very basic preloader on the movies, the buttons are simple and even the script to load the movies isn't overly complicated, and has been changed, twice.
Thanks alot for your help... but if your not seeing it, there's not alot you can do for me. If you happen to come across it at some point, please give me input...
thanks again..

Sorry i couldn't be of any more help.
i just tested it in IE and it runs a lot better in IE In the sense that once i reload the site i don't see any preloaders.
What browser are you seeing the issue in?

I've seen it all of them unfortunately. I've only personally seen it in safari, but the client has seen it in IE and another source in firefox.
I just can't figure how, when all the scripts on the buttons are made the same way, and the preloader is one I have used in other sites, that it would act as if you navigated to the site for the first time after clicking a link.
Unfortunately, it happens very spradically, as you can tell.
